After the birth of your little baby, you should arrange your home for his/her healthy growth. One of the first things you need to do in this regard is to adjust the ideal temperature at home to suit the newborn.
- The ideal temperature of the room in the first 6 months after birth varies between 22-24 degrees.
- At night, it is recommended to lower the current temperature of the room by 1-2 degrees.
- After 6 months, the ideal room temperature drops to 20-22 degrees.
- It is not possible to understand the body temperature of babies by touching their hands or feet. The reason for this situation is that the circulatory system of newborns is not yet developed. Just because your baby's hands and feet are cold does not mean that he is cold.
- You can check your little one's body temperature from his stomach, back, earlobe or nape of his neck.
- You can warm your newborn babies more easily by touching them skin to skin, instead of trying to warm them by dressing them in layers of clothes. It is a much more effective way for babies to get heat from your body than wrapping them with clothes. Lying naked with your little baby under a not too thick cover will allow him to get heat from your body and stay warm.
- Regardless of the season, you should make sure that the ideal room temperature remains between 22-24 degrees. If you are in summer and your house is too hot, you need to cool your house, and in winter months you need to heat your house until the temperature is in the range of 22-24 degrees.
- In the first 1 month after the birth of your little baby, you can only dress him 1 time more than normal. After this process is over, you should dress your baby as much as you do. Dressing your baby in layers because you think he/she is extra cold will harm your baby.
